About the Role
We’re seeking a hands-on DevOps Engineer with deep expertise in public-cloud infrastructure and large-scale SaaS operations. You will own the build-and-run pipeline—from automated CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code to reliability engineering and production incident response—ensuring our multi-tenant platform remains performant, secure, and cost-efficient at global scale.
Essential Functions
- Design, version, and govern AWS/Azure/GCP resources with Terraform/CloudFormation/Pulumi, enforcing GitOps, drift detection, and automated compliance checks.

Build and maintain scalable pipelines for zero-downtime releases.

Operate and harden Kubernetes/EKS (or AKS/GKE) clusters for multi-tenant SaaS

Instrument metrics, logs, and tracing, and drive post-incident RCAs.

Embed security controls (container scanning, SBOMs, IAM least-privilege, KMS, network segmentation)

Analyze cloud spend, right-size resources,enforce lifecycle policies, and tune application stacks for latency and throughput.

Architect multi-AZ/region failover, immutable backups, automated DR drills, and chaos-engineering experiments; own runbooks for full-stack recovery.

Partner with Product, Engineering, and Security to embed operability into designs, and coach teams on cloud-native patterns,

Implement and manage WAF, DDoS protection, and other cloud security services. Participating in security architecture reviews.

Expand automation beyond infrastructure and pipelines to include configuration management and routine operational tasks.

Proactively identify and address potential performance bottlenecks across the application stack.

Regularly test and refine disaster recovery plans and procedures.

Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure, processes, and procedures.

Provide expert-level troubleshooting for complex production issues.
Requirements
-
5+ years in DevOps/SRE roles operating production SaaS on AWS (or equivalent public cloud)
-
Expert in Terraform/CloudFormation, Docker, and Kubernetes/EKS.

Proven track record designing secure VPC architectures, load-balancers, and auto-scaling.

Strong scripting skills (Python, Go, Bash) for automation and tooling.

Deep knowledge of CI/CD tooling and modern Git workflows.

Hands-on experience with observability stacks (New Relic,, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, or similar solutions).

Solid grasp of networking (TLS, VPC peering, VPN, service mesh) and cloud IAM.

Comfortable leading high-severity incident response and post-mortems.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have

Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional, CKAD/CKA, or similar credentials

Experience with multi-tenant SaaS hardening: tenant isolation, org-level RBAC, rate-limiting

Familiarity with serverless (Lambda, EventBridge, Step Functions) and edge compute (CloudFront, Cloudflare)

Exposure to machine-learning pipelines or GPU orchestration in Kubernetes.

What we offer:
Responsive uses a market-based compensation philosophy. A candidate’s starting base salary will be determined by the specific responsibilities of the role, as well as job-related skills, experience, qualifications, location, and current market trends. For this position, the base salary range is $110,000–$125,000. Our recruiting team will provide details on the applicable range based on your location during the hiring process. Please note that this range covers base salary only and does not include bonuses, equity, or benefits.
